Voluntary offsetting with Verified Emission Reductions (VER) is attractive for private individuals as well as for companies, public institutions and municipalities through the purchase and destruction of Verified Emission Reductions (VER). This gives you the opportunity to support a large number of climate projects worldwide that are generated in the voluntary carbon market.
These include sustainable renewable energy generation projects, reforestation projects, biogas plants and similar sustainable projects, the use of which prevents the emission of the climate-damaging greenhouse gas CO2. Furthermore, this also creates jobs, especially in developing countries, and – just as importantly – raises awareness for climate-friendly action.
In the case of VERs, each individual certificate certifies the reduction of one ton of CO2. This means that if such a climate protection project saves 100,000 tons of CO2 per year, the project owner receives a credit of 100,000 VERs after verification by the relevant experts, which he can sell to finance his project.
To ensure the benefit of the projects for climate protection, there are qualified certification companies and corresponding standards, such as the Voluntary Carbon Standard or the Gold Standard, which is the highest quality class for the quality of a carbon offset project.
