European Aviation Allowances (EUAA)

Euro­pean Avi­a­tion Allowances (EUAA) are emis­sion allowances issued specifically for the avi­a­tion industry. This type of per­mit can only be used by avi­a­tion com­pa­nies under the com­pli­ance scheme of the EU ETS to fulfil their com­pli­ance oblig­a­tions. Even though aviation operators are able to use EUAs to cover their emissions, normal facility operators are not allowed to do the opposite and therefore, cannot use EUAAs to cover emissions.
